MG 1/100 MSA-0011 S Gundam

A prototype mobile suit that appeared in the Gundam Sentinel series. Transformable to 3 Jet fighter - G Attacker, G Bomber and G Core. Features with a working cockpit hatch. Includes 3 pilot figures. Beam smart gun can be anchored to the waist to replicate the attack pose. Water-slide decals are included as well for accurate markings. Stories The MSA-0011 (MSZ-011) S Gundam (also called Superior Gundam, but its original name is the Supreme Gundam[1], codename: "Ι Gundam" (Iota Gundam) in the Greek letter Anaheim Gundam series), more frequently called the S Gundam, is an incredibly powerful Earth Federation Forces mobile suit.[2] There were four units built[3], but only one has ever made an appearance in any story. The one appeared in Gundam Sentinel and in the story, send to the Taskforce Alpha battleship Pegasus III, where it was assigned to pilot Ryu Roots.

Although the S Gundam had three separate cockpits, the other two were not used until the very end of the plot, where three pilots would be saved by the core block system (see below). Since its plans are highly classified, it is said in chapter 1, Revolt in Pezun, that the pilots have been only able to train in Z Plus B types, which are the highest performance transformable mobile suit they have access to. The S Gundam is equipped with relatively heavier armour than its Z Plus cousin, which is specifically mentioned in the story (Chapter 2:Sally Forth! S Gundam) where the 2 Z Plus C1 accompanying the S Gundam in its booster configuration took more damage even though S Gundam was at a much higher acceleration when against enemy fire. To further confirm this point, the author mentions that the pilot cannot even bear to imagine what will happen if they are using Neros or GM IIIs in the same situation. Within the design notes, the offensive capabilities of the S Gundam featured a highly accurate beam smart gun, with 12MW power operating the beam smart gun normally, the unit can connect the beam smart gun to two extra power outlets on both left and right hips or the centre of its belly, to supply extra power that increases the beam smart gun up to 56MW.

However, this will have to sacrifice the mounting of one of the two 12MW beam guns that are similar to the ones used in the Zeta Plus mobile suit series. Two beam cannons protruded from the S Gundam's backpack over the shoulders, and it also featured four 60 mm vulcans in the tail stabilizer and four 60 mm vulcan guns in the head, in which the mechanical designer, Katoki Hajime, specially took the problems of this weapon in the pass series into account, including the barrel length being too short which means the weapon can only have grenade launcher effects as well as no space for ammo, and lengthened the barrel (also the depth of the head of S Gundam) and introduced the liquid explosives electronic firing mechanism to the design[2], in which later retconed earlier designs and is again mentioned in Gundam Officials, the Gundam Encyclopedia and Master Grade instructions. It also featured a red circular-shaped wire-guided remote beam weapon called an Incom that was stored in the forehead. And finally, to round out the S Gundam's weaponry, the unit featured two beam sabers stored in recharge racks in the small white protrusions in the unit's knees. The S Gundam is built on a modular design, made up of two separate transformable units that could combine with a core fighter variant called the G Core to create the full S Gundam. The S Gundam was capable of separating into the 3 crafts. The G-Attacker (also referred to as the A Parts) is one of the crafts, which was made up of the upper torso area of the S Gundam. The second craft was called the G-Bomber (also referred to as the B Parts), which were composed of the lower torso and legs of the S Gundam.

The G-Core core fighter, which were the C Parts of the S Gundam, was flown by Ryu Roots. The story used this mechanism as a make shift role for the task force alpha not having enough mobile suits for the battle and has to compromise by separating the S Gundam for 3 pilots in chapter 12, Pursuit. The author also made his own disbelieve in combining robots[4] in the midst of battle into the plot, where S Gundam is forced to combine back into the mobile suit form and sacrifice of the 3 pilots' instructor was made by being their shield in order to buy them time for the combination in chapter 13, Triple Attack. A.L.I.C.E. The S Gundam in Gundam Sentinel featured a unique and incredibly complex artificial intelligence computer that went by the acronym name A.L.I.C.E., which was developed by Ryu Roots' mother, Meith Roots. A.L.I.C.E., which stood for Advanced Logistic & Inconsequence Cognizing Equipment, was more than the standard learning computer featured in earlier mobile suits; "she" had the capability to think and to grow. The growth of ALICE is one of the main plot lines to the story, compared to the growth of the main character Ryu Roots. In "her" early stages of growth ALICE was not yet a full individual, but "her" experiences with Ryu Roots would help "her" to grow. ALICE is originally programmed to place the pilot(s) life as first priority, and could assume total control of the S Gundam if "she" felt that the unit was in danger.

This function has been used throughout the plot to save the pilot's life and caused confusion to the pilot since Ryu Roots has no knowledge of ALICE's existence even towards the very end of the story. Although 4 S Gundams have been produced, it is known that the other 3 S Gundams do not have the ALICE system installed on it.

MG 1/100 FXA-05D/RX-178 Super Gundam

Gundam MKII model unit. Coupled with parts for the G-Defender which lets you create an MG Super Gundam. Standing height almost 30cm! Almost all of the fins and hatches on the G-Defender move to allow various configurations, reveal missile bays, etc. Technical and historical notes Early during the Gryps Conflict, the Anti-Earth Union Group's newly-captured RX-178 Gundam Mark II mobile suit was soon outclassed by new variable-form mobile suits/mobile armor being developed by their Titans enemies. Although fairly impressive for its innovative new "movable frame" construction, the Gundam Mark II soon found itself left behind in terms of mobility, armor and firepower. To compensate for these shortcomings, the Anaheim Electronics Company developed a new weapon to enhance the Mark II's performance. Called the FXA-05D G-Defenser, this new space fighter-like unit was capable of docking with the Gundam Mark II. During cruise/flight mode, this form was called the G-Flyer. However, the Mark II could assume full control of the G-Defenser's weapons as a mobile suit, becoming what was commonly called the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam. The Super Gundam sported an approximately 20% increase in speed/acceleration over the stand-alone Mark II, as well as provided the benefit of additional (and more effective) gundarium armor and the powerful long rifle and missile pods. These improvements allowed the Super Gundam to operate on a more equal footing with the high-performance variable mobile suits being fielded by the Titans at the time. MG 1/100 RX-178 Gundam Mk-II Ver.2.0 (TITANS)

  • RX-178 Mk-II Ver.2.0 Titans
  • We wouldn't have thought that Bandai could have improved on their Master Grade kit of the Gundam Mk-II (except, of course, with a PG version!), until we saw the Version 2.0
  • Newly-designed joints allow it incredibly realistic posing; especially in the legs. A tighter bend at the knee, and a joint that divides the heel and toe of the foot, provides better balance for action poses, and gives your Mk-II a realistic appearance when it's crouching, as though it's about to spring into action at any time!
  • The kit is all molded in colour and snaps together; vinyl tubing is included for weapons detail. Also included are three scale figures (one pilot and two maintenance crew) for positioning around the Mk-II while it's "docked". Not just an improvement on the original kit, the Version 2.0 takes the Mk.II to a whole new level!

MG 1/100 Zeta Gundam Ver.2.0

  • Big beautiful version 2.0 Master Grade Zeta Gundam comes with a bazillion parts (yes, I'm too lazy to count them. 17 ABS runners, one base, plus polycaps) and goes together in the new fashion, with the super new joints at the waist and in the arms and legs, allowing it even more freedom of movement and incredible posing than ever before!
  • It's fully-transformable when completed, too. What more could you ask for? (well, a life-sized version would be nice, but you'd get tired just lifting the polycaps, trust me).
  • Shield and beam mega launcher weapons (as well as the regular rifle, beam sabres, etc.) are included, and a custom catapult stand is included to hold it all up -- with all the extra armour and weaponry, it'll be a little heavy when completed! Two unpainted pilots and an unpainted miscellaneous crew member are included.
  •  All parts snap together and are molded in colour so paint and glue for the kit are not necessary; foil stickers and clear Gundam stickers are included for detail.
  • However, if you'd like to paint it, it would look pretty spiffalicious, and a paint scheme is provided (paint is of course sold separately).

MG 1/100 Zeta Gundam

  • Zeta Gundam was broadcast on Japanese TV during '84/85, following up the original series with a whole new set of characters and machines. Not surprisingly, the robot of the same name was the main piece of hardware in the show. This new show also introduced the "transformation" concept to Gundam, and the Zeta does an impressive one, switching from robot mode to "Wave Rider" mode in the wink of an eye. Perhaps more impressive is the fact the this new Master Grade kit can also make this transformation without a single piece having to be removed or replaced on it (not counting the shield/nose piece, but that's true to the show). The new 1/100 MG Zeta Gundam is probably the most highly-engineered model Bandai has ever produced. Eight full-size runners with hundreds of multi-colored parts make this kit a serious assembly project, but it goes together very smoothly. Besides the transformation capability, the kit includes all kinds of other goodies. As usual, everything moves. Even those yellow antenna on its forehead fold up. Three sets of hands are included -- fists, open palm, and posable. A watch battery can be installed to light up the cockpit of the Wave Rider (bulb included). And the kit also comes with the "Hyper Mega Launcher" (not shown in these photos and yes, that's really what it's called) -- a huge super-cannon that the Zeta uses to blast enemies from the sky in one shot (the cannon is about 30cm or 12" long when completed!). Also includes the usual "beam saber" sword, and little grenades that fit into operable hatches on the ends of its forearms. The Zeta in "Wave Rider" mode, seen from the top and bottom. This transformation takes place without any parts needing to be removed from the kit! All of Bandai's MG (as well as HG) kits are completely snap-together, and parts are molded in color, so no painting is necessary. Of course, the use of cement and paints will improve the appearance of a finished model. Many of the surface markings are printed right onto the plastic parts to begin with, but the kit includes replacement transfers for those people who wish to paint their work. - red colored LED light included attached by the wings behind. - transformable into a "waveraider" (plane format). - decals included - sold only with 109.90; budgeted and worthwhile. MG 1/100 MSA-0011(Ext) Ex-S Gundam

  • Okay, for a monster machine like this, with parts sticking out all over, and which is so top heavy it cannot stand on its own, the naming of "Ex-S" seems appropriate, considering the homonym "excess."
  • But gosh, it's sooo sharp looking... Let me come back to that point about standing up by itself: It can't. At first, when I saw that this kit came with a display stand to hold it up, I was greatly dissapointed, as I really was looking forward to building it.
  • But then I started thinking about all the other Gundam kits of mine that have fallen over and broken or lost parts when I had them posed someplace, and I began to think that maybe a display stand isn't such a bad idea after all...
  • Of course the kit can transform into the long-range "G-Cruiser" mode, similar to the Zeta Gundam, and the display stand itself also converts into a mode specifically designed for displaying the kit when it's in ship mode. MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.O.Y.W 0079 Animetion Color

Molded in the colors used in the classic "Mobile Suit Gundam" anime series, this version is identical to the MG RX-78-2 Gundam kit from 2005 except for the color and decal sheet for custom markings. This kit features the same incredibly flexible inner frame and sharply detailed armor, and comes armed with its signature weaponry including the beam rifle, hyper bazooka, Gundam hammer, two beam sabers, and shield. An unpainted in-scale pilot figure of Amuro Ray (molded in white) is included.

Wikipedia Information
The RX-78-2 Gundam(aka Gundam) is the titular mobile suit of Mobile Suit Gundam. Part of the RX-78 Gundam series, It was built in secret on Side 7, the Gundam would turn the tide of war in favor of the Earth Federation during the One Year War. The unit was primarily piloted by Amuro Ray.

The Gundam was incredibly advanced for its time. Built from lightweight Luna Titanium, its frame was both lighter than that of Zeon's mass-produced Mobile Suits and much sturdier, able to shrug off a Zaku's machine gun fire with little to no damage. Its offensive power was above and beyond that of the Zeon Zakus. The Gundam would engage in most battles with its Beam Rifle making it the first Mobile Suit to have firepower equivalent to a battleship beam cannon. In addition, it made use of two beam sabers, a blade of extremely hot plasma which could cut through any metal with ease. Those beam sabers could be extended into a spear-like beam javelin, which could be used to stab into an enemy from a longer distance than the blade of the saber would allow.

The Gundam also used more conventional weaponry: it could be launched with a Hyper Bazooka, the Federation's answer to the bazookas used by Zeon's Zakus; in addition, its head was outfitted with a pair of small vulcan cannons, providing it with a last resort weapon as well as a way of attacking light-armored aircraft and vehicles without wasting ammo or energy from its more powerful armaments. It also made use of a very unconventional close-range weapon known as the Gundam Hammer - a large weapon similar to a flail which could be swung at enemies to deal crushing damage.

The Gundam Hammer was eventually upgraded for use in space and outfitted with a number of verniers on the ball, and renamed to be the Hyper Hammer. Lastly, it wielded a large shield which would offer it a defense against enemy attacks that not even its Luna Titanium body could withstand without damage. Gundam pilot Amuro Ray would make use of the shield as a decoy in many battles, taking advantage of its size to fool the enemy into thinking he was charging at them, then attacking the enemy through the shield.

In terms of technology, the Gundam was equipped with a sophisticated Learning Computer which would collect pilot and enemy data during skirmishes and allow the Gundam to operate more effectively. The data from the computer was used by the Federation to improve the controls of the Gundam's mass-produced form, the RGM-79 GM. In addition, it was upgraded by Federation technician Mosque Han shortly before the Battle of A Boa Qu to improve its reaction times, the joints of the Gundam were given a Magnetic Coating, based on the experimental procedure performed on the RX-78-3 "G-3" Gundam and later used Amuro's intended successor unit, the RX-78NT-1 Gundam "Alex".

The Gundam makes use of the Core Block System implemented in the other V Project units. The torso of the Gundam is mostly hollow so that a FF-X7 Core Fighter can dock with it. This allows the pilot to jettison the legs and torso of the Gundam should the Gundam be too heavily damaged and gives the pilot a chance to escape from battle.

Later, during Operation Odessa, the Gundam is given a support unit known as the G-Fighter. The two G-Fighters were designed to take advantage of the Gundam's modular system and diversify the Gundam's role in active combat. These modes ranged from the assault bomber G-Armor to the close combat support tank G-Bull

Weapons
  • 60mm Gatling Cannons "Vulcan Gun"- The Vulcan cannons were 60mm Gatling Guns stored on the sides of the Gundam's head. Having the greatest rate of fire of all the Gundam's weapons these are primarily used to ward off advancing enemies, shoot down missiles, or hit other fast moving targets. They also made good use as an anti-aircraft and anti-personnel weapons. The Vulcan cannons however had a hard time piercing heavy armor (Though they had shown the ability to do severe damage to Mobile Suit's if fired at point-blank range)and thus were not often used against larger, more heavily armored foes. Still the Vulcans were useful in preserving ammunition for the Gundam's more powerful weapons such as the Beam Rifle.
  • BAUVA*XBR-M-79-07G (Bauva eXperimental Beam Rifle Medium-range) - A revolutionary weapon for it's time, the Beam Rifle is the primary weapon used by the Gundam. Making use of the Federations E-cap (or "energy capacitor") technology, the rifle uses charged concentrations of Minovsky particles as ammunition. This gives the beam rifle firepower equivalent to that of a battleship's beam cannons. As the Minovsky particles destroy matter on a molecular scale, the beam rifle can penetrate even the thickest armor and destroy its target with a single shot. One weak point of the rifle was its energy limits. The rifle could only be fired 16 times before depleting its energy and becoming useless.
  • Beam Saber- The Gundam was the first mobile suit to ever use a beam-oriented weapon in melee combat. The sabers are stored on the backpack, and can transform from saber to the Gundam Javelin, a large pole with a three pronged beam at the end. The beam sabers use Minovsky particles held in place by an I-Field to form an effective cutting surface that can slice through nearly any material. The particles for the beam sabers are stored by E-cap in the hilt of the saber, which is recharged from the Gundam's reactor when the saber is returned to its socket. Once activated, beam sabers do not rely on the mobile suit's reactor and can be thrown or discarded as decoys. The beam saber is most often used for close range combat or as an emergency weapon once all other ammunition has been depleted.
  • Gundam Hammer/Hyper Hammer - A rather unusual weapon, the Gundam Hammer was essentially a large spiked ball attached to a chain. It was used to give the Gundam a ranged melee weapon. The Gundam could either throw or swing the Hammer around itself in order to impact and damage its target through the sheer mass of the hammer. Later, it was upgraded into the Hyper Hammer and had several rockets mounted into the ball in order to give it use in space allowing it to maneuver in zero-gravity also the ability to change it's direction before impact, and to increase the damage it could cause.
  • BLASH*XHB-L-03/N-STD (Blash eXperimental Hyper Bazooka Long-range) - Similar to the Zaku's Bazooka, the Hyper Bazooka was a heavy weapon used by the Gundam. Technically a large rocket launcher it could fire several 380mm missiles to attack targets at long range. While very powerful the Hyper Bazooka had a slow rate of fire and fairly little of ammunition. Most oftenly used to take out slow, heavily armored targets.
  • RX*M-Sh-008/S-01025 (Renpou [Federation] eXperimental Medium Shield) - Hand-carried, forearm-mounted or stored on the Gundam's backpack, the shield is a simple defense used to block most incoming ballistic and explosive projectiles. Also used to great effect in close quarters battle with enemy mobile suits. Has a view port than can be sealed off with an internal blast plate. The shield is also used to deflect heat away from the mobile suit when undergoing atmospheric re-entry.
  • Core Block System - The initial idea of the Core Fighter was as a form of escape if the Gundam were to be destroyed, allowing the irreplaceable data collected by the learning computer and the pilot to escape from a replaceable machine. Another idea was that the Core Fighter could be launched into the field as a support fighter, and the A and B blocks could be delivered by another vehicle (the Federation developed a support unit, the Gunperry, for this role) if needed for a mid-air conversion into a mobile suit.
  • Learning Computer System - A critical component of the Gundam's success in combat, the Learning Computer System was similar to a modern day black box. It recorded the data from each of the Gundam's battles for further use. However, the system could also actively learn and improve the capabilities of the Gundam, explaining why Amuro had such difficulty fighting two Zaku IIs on his first try but managed to hold off ace pilot Char Aznable at Luna II.
  • Re-entry Coolant System - The re-entry system is used for only emergencies when the Gundam is falling to Earth and has no chance of reaching its carrier. The coolant system acts as a large heat-resistant film which lowers the Gundam's temperature when descending to Earth.

MG 1/100 RX-78-3 G-3 Gundam

  • Bandai's Master Grade (MG) "RX-78-3" is meant to attract the mature modeler who remembers growing up with Gundam, but wouldn't think of building the primitive kits that were released when Gundam first was broadcast in 1980 (the original kit is still available, by the way. 700 yen).
  •  Like all the kits in the MG series, the level of detail is superb, and virtually everything moves. Panels on the legs flip open to reveal internal mechanisms. The head has a panel, too.
  • Even the "Core Fighter" cockpit ship can be removed from its belly. Fine mesh parts cover the inside of the chest air intakes for added realism. Three types of hands are included -- open palm, fists, and posable (moving fingers) for gripping any of the several weapons that comes with the kit. All of Bandai's MG (as well as HG) kits are completely snap-together, and parts are molded in color, so no painting is necessary.
  • Of course, the use of cement and paints will improve the appearance of a finished model. Many of the surface markings are printed right onto the plastic parts to begin with, but the kit includes replacement transfers for those people who wish to paint their work.
  • The RX-78-3 kit is identical to the RX-78-2 except that it is molded in blue and gray plastic, rather than the more "festive" colors of the original.
