Although fairly impressive for its innovative new "movable frame" construction, the Gundam Mark II soon found itself left behind in terms of mobility, armor and firepower. To compensate for these shortcomings, the Anaheim Electronics Company developed a new weapon to enhance the Mark II's performance. Called the FXA-05D G-Defenser, this new space fighter-like unit was capable of docking with the Gundam Mark II. During cruise/flight mode, this form was called the G-Flyer. However, the Mark II could assume full control of the G-Defenser's weapons as a mobile suit, becoming what was commonly called the RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam. • Zeta Gundam was broadcast on Japanese TV during '84/85, following up the original series with a whole new set of characters and machines. Not surprisingly, the robot of the same name was the main piece of hardware in the show. This new show also introduced the "transformation" concept to Gundam, and the Zeta does an impressive one, switching from robot mode to "Wave Rider" mode in the wink of an eye. Perhaps more impressive is the fact the this new Master Grade kit can also make this transformation without a single piece having to be removed or replaced on it (not counting the shield/nose piece, but that's true to the show). The new 1/100 MG Zeta Gundam is probably the most highly-engineered model Bandai has ever produced. Eight full-size runners with hundreds of multi-colored parts make this kit a serious assembly project, but it goes together very smoothly. Besides the transformation capability, the kit includes all kinds of other goodies. As usual, everything moves. Even those yellow antenna on its forehead fold up. Three sets of hands are included -- fists, open palm, and posable. A watch battery can be installed to light up the cockpit of the Wave Rider (bulb included). And the kit also comes with the "Hyper Mega Launcher" (not shown in these photos and yes, that's really what it's called) -- a huge super-cannon that the Zeta uses to blast enemies from the sky in one shot (the cannon is about 30cm or 12" long when completed!). BB Hyaku Shiki & Mega Bazooka Launcher

Along with the Hyaku-Shiki (Type 100), the Rick Dias is one of the most popular mecha from Zeta Gundam as it was designed by Mamoru Nagano of L-Gaim and Five Star Stories fame. This new kit does it justice, featuring overall slimmer, sharper proportions than the chunky High Complete Model or 1/100 kit of many years ago. As usual for kits in the High Grade series, it's molded in color, features snap assembly, and has poly-caps for all the moving joints.Reviews by Gundam.tk: Personal review: Limited mobility on the feet as the armor pieces on the leg constrained the movement of the lower body part, you have a clearly loose part on the head of the rick Dias (once is completed), and you got to be careful on 'some' of the part.

Poly-caps for the joints.Technology & Combat CharacteristicsIn terms of technology and performance the two Qubeley Mk-II units were virtually identical to the original Qubeley. The Qubeley Mk-II's stored an additional two remote funnel weapons in the tail binder over its predecessor, giving the mobile suit a total of twelve remote weapons. The one noticeable difference between the two identical Qubeley Mk-II's is the different color schemes. The first AMX-004-2 Qubeley Mk-II which featured a dark purple color scheme and a hilted beam saber. The second unit, AMX-004-3 Qubeley Mk-II, was largely identical to the first, but instead had a red-and-yellow paint scheme. Of course since the Qubeley Mk-II mobile suits were designed for Newtype pilots they were outfitted with the same miniaturized psycommu system of the first Qubeley so that the pilots may control the remote weapons with their Newtype abilities. One major differences between the two mobile suits psycommu systems, was that AMX-004-3 Qubeley Mk-II would have a new version of the psycommu system installed that would allow its pilot, through the use of a psycowave amplifying headset, to remote-control the mobile suit from outside the cockpit. The head parts of the Qubeley MK-II features a psywave sender/reciever, and also features a system that gives feedback to the pilot, a system never seen in other Newtype use MSs. The head is also crafted to act as a stabilizer in flight, thus the odd shape. The shoulder armor of the Qubely MK-II features 12 thrusters to give it exceptional mobility and speed. The binders also act as shields. They also help the Qubeley MK-II'S AMBAC system. The fingers of the MK-II also mount the same psywave sender/reciever system as the head, and can directly give the funnels instructions.
