Unlock the Full Potential of GGX and Metallic Paints

The Mr.Hobby T217 Mr.Color GGX Rapid Thinner is a specialized high-performance solvent designed specifically to accompany the new generation of Mr. Color GGX paints. While standard thinners work well for general purpose painting, the GGX Rapid Thinner is engineered with a faster evaporation rate that drastically alters the final finish of your model, making it an essential tool for advanced finishing techniques.

Why Choose GGX Rapid Thinner?

  • Essential for Mr. Color GGX Series: The new GGX paint formulation requires a specific solvent balance to perform correctly. This thinner ensures proper solubility and adhesion that standard thinners may not provide for the GGX line.

  • Superior Metallic Finishes: This is the secret weapon for metallic painting. Because the thinner dries rapidly, it "locks" metallic pigments in place quickly. This prevents the heavy metallic flakes from sinking or drifting during the drying process, resulting in a uniform, realistic metal sheen rather than a "glittery" or uneven texture.

  • True Matte Results: When used with flat/matte paints, the rapid drying time prevents the paint from self-leveling into a semi-gloss surface. The result is a deeper, more velvet-like matte finish.

  • Speed Up Your Workflow: Drastically reduces drying time between coats, allowing for faster layering and masking sessions without long waits.

Best Applications

  • Mr. Color GGX Paints: The primary thinner recommended for this line.

  • Metallic Paints (Standard Mr. Color): Use this instead of Leveling Thinner when you want a crisp, high-intensity metallic reflection.

  • Matte/Flat Paints: Perfect for military models, fabric textures, and non-reflective surfaces.

  • Camouflage: The quick drying time helps prevent runny edges when freehanding intricate camouflage patterns.

Usage Tips

  • Ratio: Start with a 1:1 to 1:2 (Paint : Thinner) ratio for airbrushing, adjusting based on your specific PSI and needle size.

  • Note for Gloss Finishes: Because this thinner dries very quickly, it inhibits the "self-leveling" process required for a glass-smooth mirror finish. For high-gloss car bodies or candy coats, it is recommended to use Mr. Leveling Thinner instead.
